Dan Briggs Therapy

“That of which we are not aware, owns us.”

James Hollis

Sometimes in life, we all have thoughts like these…

  • Everything's just too much.

  • I feel trapped.

  • I'm at breaking point.

  • I have so much, so why do I feel unhappy?

  • I can't go on like this anymore.

That’s where I come in. I’m not just a registered therapist and counsellor.

I’ve also been through a fair few life changes myself.

Which means I don’t just know the theory behind meaningful change.

I’ve also lived it myself.

Big life events happen to all of us. And when they do, we’re often forced to see the gulf between who we're trying to be and who we really are.

I can work with you to find meaning and perhaps see these moments as opportunities; to help you make a change that feels long over-due.

So whether you’ve experienced any of these common issues, therapy could help you…
  • Bereavement
  • Loss of identity
  • Loss of job
  • Loss of role as family member, parent or partner
  • Loss of who you hoped to be

It's okay to ask for help

  • Stress
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Addiction

So how can I help?

Shifting focus

When life throws us challenges, things can seem bleak.   We’re conditioned to reach for quick fixes because the bigger things feel impossible to change. I prefer to see these moments as turning points from which we can start the process of inner exploration. It’s through this journey that we can work towards finding meaning in our lives – and bringing our true selves back.

What's my Approach?

Throughout my training and practice, I’ve studied and applied a diverse range of therapeutic techniques. But perhaps the biggest influence on my approach is the psychologist Carl Jung. Jung’s methodology centres on the unconscious, which he believes can be accessed through things like dreams, creative expression and life patterns. Exploring these can bring a sense of wholeness that leads to genuine and meaningful transformation.

How Does Therapy Work?

Initial Consultation

Let’s find out if we’re a good fit. In this free 20-minute online or phone consultation, you can ask me any questions you may have, and I can tell you more about how I might be able to help.

First Session

This is where we start getting to know each other. There’s no mystery here – I’ll want to find out about you, and understand what really matters to you.

General exploration

We’ll use our sessions to explore at your own pace. I can offer guidance on how we do this, or I can simply hold a space for you to explore.

  • How long will I need?
It’s up to you. We can take as long as you need, but I always recommend a minimum of six consecutive sessions for the process to have real meaning. After all, fundamental change takes time. Having said that, I understand finances may be a factor, and I’m always happy to discuss short-term exploration.
  • Can I afford it?
As any therapist will tell you, it’s impossible to put a price on profound personal growth. When therapy works, it can enrich the entire course of your life. Having said that, I’m well aware that when we need therapy the most, we can often afford it the least. That’s why I try to keep my costs as low as possible. If you’re struggling financially, get in touch – if I can’t help you myself, I may be able to point you towards something more affordable. Pricing available here
  • Where do you work?
Sessions are available in person in BS1, BS6 and BS15. I work from The Harbourside Practice central Bristol; The Practice Rooms in Cotham, or from my home in Kingswood, East Bristol, where I have a calm, dedicated space for counselling. (Images below in order as described above.)
  • Do I really need help?
The fact you’re searching for help probably tells you enough. But if you’re not sure, and you want to have an informal chat to discuss your options, go ahead and book in a free consultation.
  • Does therapy actually work?
I could quote statistics at you, but I’d rather keep things personal. When I needed it the most, therapy helped me overcome considerable hurdles in my own life. It was this path towards self-awareness that prompted me to become a therapist myself, so that I could help others on their own transformational journey.
  • One more question... Why's your logo a crow?
Good question! Crows are rich in symbolic meaning for countless cultures, both ancient and modern, and are often seen as a prophecy of profound personal transformation. It’s even said that people who notice crows are ready for a new shift in their own life. So if you spotted my logo, perhaps that’s a sign in itself…
